"It is our aspiration that all people of Amsterdam with disabilities have an opportunity to become participants in our city"
Within the matching fair, social entrepreneurs committed to work integration (WISEs) and regular SMEs came together to promote impactful partnerships. The event, part of the European Buy WISEly project, aimed to promote social entrepreneurship and encourage collaboration between WISEs and SMEs. Appropriately, the fair started with an introductory presentation on the Buy WISEly project by Jack Stuijfbergen from Breedweer and MKB Metropool Amsterdam together with Corine van de Burgt, director of Stichting De Omslag. Attendees were inspired by speeches from the vice-chairman of MKB Metropool Amsterdam, the alderman of Amsterdam West, and Kesbeke’s own Oos Kesbeke, who shared his success in the field of social entrepreneurship.
With 22 signed letters of intent between social enterprises and mainstream companies, as well as among themselves, the event created important new partnerships and momentum for a stronger social economy in Amsterdam. The more trade in the social economy, the more job impact there will be for people who are still on the sidelines.
