"It is our aspiration that all people of Amsterdam with disabilities have an opportunity to become participants in our city"

Halfway through the neighborhood teams' assignment

Buurtteam Amsterdam will be three years old in 2024. Through experience stories, the municipality and the neighborhood teams assess whether we are on the right track together. Via a digital Storytelling Point, everyone – Amsterdam residents, neighborhood team employees, and partner organizations – can share experiences.

Right course?

Buurtteam Amsterdam has been operational since April 2021. We are halfway through the six-year subsidy period, which runs until 2027. The neighborhood teams were established to provide Amsterdam residents with accessible, low-threshold help close to home that they need.

Now is the time to investigate whether we are on the right track: How will Buurtteam Amsterdam continue for the remaining subsidy period? How do they continue to build an organization that stands firm and can offer Amsterdam residents what they need?

stories research

The research focuses on collecting stories from Amsterdam residents and professionals in the field. In September, the Storytelling Point was launched in a collaboration between StoryConnect, Meetellen, and CVC.

For Amsterdam residents who are less digitally skilled, Meetellen and CVC organize storytelling tables: fourteen meetings or drop-in moments organized throughout the city. Amsterdam residents can join and share their experiences.

Do you have an experience you want to talk about? Share your story via the Storytelling Point. A critical view, a positive account: tell us what you think people should know! Sharing a story takes an average of 10 minutes and is completely anonymous.

Research outcomes

We expect the results of the research at the beginning of 2025. The municipality and the neighborhood team organizations will use the outcomes to further develop Buurtteam Amsterdam during the current subsidy period, but also in the period after. The insights and findings from this research will also provide input for the broader conversation about the development of the Social Domain and the role of Buurtteam Amsterdam in it.
