"It is our aspiration that all people of Amsterdam with disabilities have an opportunity to become participants in our city"
‘The Green Wave’ action research has extensively described and eliminated obstacles in participation. In the De Groene Golf focus experiment, more than 50 people who wanted to participate and their healthcare workers were assisted.
De Groene Golf was completed at the end of 2018. On the “Groene Golf project page”: http://www.deomslag.nl/nl/de-groene-golf. you can read everything about the research and download the report.
This has yielded a lot of knowledge, insight and practical examples. In addition to the expected “system errors”, such as inappropriate rules and policies, it became clear that the professional himself is an important link in removing obstacles to participation. Time, knowledge, network and scope for action are essential to be able to deliver customized work. The important conclusion was that the actions of participation professionals can make the difference. With the support of the municipality of Amsterdam, the Participation Guide for Professionals has been created to empower professionals with inspiration, information and practical examples.
The “Participation Guide for Professionals” website:https://participatiegids.nl/nl/home is built on the results of the research. To strengthen the professional you will find here inspiration, tools and many practical examples and information:
The participation guide for professionals provides professionals with insights and background information about the profession and the important role they play. Reflective tools, in-depth articles and practical information are intended as tools for a personal approach and customized participation support.
