De Omslag builds on impact entrepreneurship in education

Together with professionals from local governments, the business community and educational institutions, De Omslag is committed to giving impact entrepreneurship a permanent place in Dutch education.

During the first working conference of the City Deal Impact Entrepreneurship, the foundation was laid for a stronger ecosystem in which entrepreneurship with social impact is central.

On October 11, the first of five City Deal Impact Entrepreneurship work conferences took place at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, organized in collaboration with De Omslag under the banner of B-WISE.

City Deal Impact Entrepreneurship: what is it?

City Deal Impact Entrepreneurship is an initiative in which (local) governments, entrepreneurs and educational institutions work together to remove the barriers to impact entrepreneurship. City Deal is working towards setting up an expertise centre that helps educational institutions integrate impact entrepreneurship into their curricula. Working conferences collect valuable input to shape the expertise center and thus help strengthen cooperation between all parties involved.

The first working conference: awareness and knowledge sharing

The first conference focused on creating awareness about the need for impact entrepreneurship in education. The aim was to connect existing initiatives in order to start the dialogue. An important part of the conference was knowledge exchange: participants shared success stories and challenges to jointly remove barriers and inspire each other.

Working together: working sessions and concrete steps

During various work sessions, participants addressed practical challenges. An important conclusion was that involving teachers, students and policy makers is essential to initiate educational innovation. Collaboration and knowledge sharing are seen as key factors to strengthen impact in education.

Visual representation of the future

The results of this conference have been summarized by “Amber Rijcken”: https://www.iktekenvoorverandering.nu/ in a visual representation of the future expertise center. In the coming conferences, these insights will be further developed and concrete steps will be taken towards a sustainable integration of impact entrepreneurship in education.
